His heart began beating faster and faster, his face disappearing in and out of the flashing red light that provided the only light in the room, as he groped in the dark for the only object which could same him, the only object that could have saved his dear wife now lying dead somewhere just out of range of that flashing red light: the oblong remote that would allow him to finally set the damned VCR clock.
